The right angled switch has the same configuration, but the 'wafer' section is on the right angled part. If you have a look closely at the metal plates you will see that the switch actually 'de-connects' a pickup by breaking the connection. The pickups will get soldered to the outer lugs, and there will be two inner lugs you squeeze together and connect to the output jack.

Thanks a heap. So there are four lugs which need soldering, you've explained the two pickup lugs and the output jack lugs (which i'll count as one). That just leaves the one lug which is soldered to a wire coming off the neck tone pot. I'm assuming that's the thicker lug located between the pickup lugs, as its the only one left.... right?

Yep. That grounds the frame of the switch. Probably not necessary unless the switch is touching some shielding that the other wiring isn't.
