Wanged a set of Ironstone tele pups (not to be confused with Iron Gear -another excellent UK brand) into a very cheap second hand Stagg brand Tele this weekend..It probably helped that the Stagg had had some fret work and a set up but these are actually a pretty cool sounding set of budget pups for capturing a good Telecaster tone. They were certainly able to drive a Marshall Tube amp .Not sure whether they are made in UK or are Imports. Spec is Bridge Alnico V 42 AWG wire 7.5 ohms Neck Alnico III 43 AWG wire 7.2 ohms . Excellent value for money in a very competitive market at £40 shipped in the UK and around $55 shipped to the US . For the avoidance of doubt I have no interest. financial or otherwise in Ironstone. Am just passing on info although suspect it will be of limited interest to most on this forum.
Further info..you need to be prepared to modify the wiring a little if you are going for non standard wiring . The bridge negative was routed via the base plate and the neck was 2 wire needing the usual minor mod to seperate the casing ground from the circuit negative ...no big deal but thought I would mention it. At the owners request I put in a push pull tone giving combined OOP and series so these mods were necessary.
