It's like this: you either buy a ridiculously awesome vintage amp, or a Hovercraft, or you're not doomed.

Or you buy an Orange and be like kinda doomed but more like Slipknot.

Yeah I've sent him a few emails about build ideas too... Good guy and eager to accomodate you. He said he'd build me a copy of the one he built for Kurt Ballou but then I started dreaming of a voice switch to let me go from an Orange OR to a Sunn T voicing and he was all "yeah no problem."

Freaking mad scientist / evil genius.

I talked to him on facebook a while ago and he seems genuinely excited about his work and highly capable of making whatever you want as long as its filthy.

Yeah. I would have one by now if it wasn't Cheap Rare Awesome Cabinet Season on my local clist. Every time I get halfway to my Dwarvenaut I find something retarded.

The Dark Terror gets into the tone zone I like, but the Dwarvenaut is it, baby. It helps that you can pretty much custom-tailor your amp voicing with him to get the particular sort of sound you want.
I actually want something pretty clean and hammer it with pedals, personally. If a Sunn Solarus/Sceptre was in any way as cheap I would hit one of those first and then get a Falcon to have my pain tones.

I don't see Sceptres selling for a lot more than $500 man... That and a quality cab would go a long way.

maybe for a few hundred more get the andromedia since it has way more watts

the difference in volume is not that great really; then get a high quality attenuator you can use for all your amps

I'd either want an Andromeda or Falcon as those are solid giggers with enough wattage to get clean, but now he's making....some other stuff too. I need to read up more on his new projects.
