Hey man, i remember a couple of threads a while back where you were talking about the Kemper Profiling Amp and the AxeFx.

Are you aware of the new features in the AxeFx... specifically the tone matching and cabinet IR capture? Looks like Fractal have been trying to plug some spaces exposed by the Kemper.

Anyway, if you're not aware of them i'll give you a brief explanation.

With the IR cab capture, it basically allows you to capture IR of cabinets in the same way the Kemper does. The difference being that the Axe-Fx allows you to capture only the cabinet and not the whole amp like the Kemper does... the idea is that you then use the cabinet IR you've created with one of their modelled amplifiers. A lot of people say cab IR's the the weakness of modellers so now you can create your own anyways...

So you're first thought might be "The strength of the Kemper is that it allows you to profile the amp itself!". So AxeFx now has 'Tone Matching'. For a cool example of how tone matching works check out this video: Click. You could use not only isolated guitar tracks from previous commercial records, but you could also use any recording of a guitar to match the tone to. So you could record a clip with your Orange and then recreate it in the AxeFx. I gotta say, the results so far sound pretty spot on.

I think i'm gonna get me an AxeFx when i have enough cash.

its really cool man, thanks, I was aware they started to do some version of Kemper cloning to a smaller extent, based on their forum boards ;) had not seen the video on it yet till now. I see kempers have probs as they are still in prototype mode...

I like using my IRs at home currently. axefxII is cooler than axefx since it has the IRs built in to the axefx unit, which can really bottleneck stuff. I know it was starting to do kemper type modeling. descent tones on that youtube video there, seems very complicated, would take a few weekends of tweakage for sure. I am still am wanting to hear great modeled amps and fuzz tones and once I do then I will start saving up. I got my axefxII coupon 2 weeks ago and fortunately my axefxII gas died so I did not spend $2k...

on the gas list is SD pups - never had those in my guitar lolerz! It seems the IRs are great but yet they just dont sound like a micd 412, that is my thing. axefx just keeps getting better, very cool function to make your own IRs - I dont have studio access but I bet people in studios could make some great IRs ;)

once I hear GREAT 70s type heavy downtuned rock I will prolly buy one tho...I am digging my tech21 oxford pedal and recabinet IRs for now :beerchug:

:) I am making a thread of this, cheers brutha, drinking jack n coke right now :beerchug:
