is 59 bridge much different than 59 -n in neck position?

I was mistakenly sold a 59 bridge model when trying to get a neck pickup. It sounds great in the neck position. Should i bother trying to get the regular neck model to try that out or just keep the bridge one there?

Yeah i thought of that. I would really like to know if there is any difference(aside from the posted dimensional differences) between the bridge model and neck though. The tone charts don't provide much info. Its a 2 hour ride to make the swap. thanks

I think the neck version would sound just a bit clearer, possible with it a bit more treble.

Also the bridge version is wound a little hotter, so that if you have a matched set of 59's, the neck one is smoother and cleaner and the bridge one has some bite to it.

I think i'd prefer the bridge model...i have the neck tho. heh.

I have a super strat with a pair of 59 bridge models (bridge models in both neck and bridge postions for claification) in it and they both sound great. The 59 is my favorite Duncan pickup to date!

In 1959, Gibson would have used a 8.1K or 8.2K humbucker for both the neck and bridge position...they were not calibrated. The 59B is usually right around 8.1K or so. So if you like it go ahead and use it. Personally, I like a neck humbucker with a lower DC resistance and would prefer the 59N. Lew

keep it even thought its unorthodox if you like it! if you listen to us, youll just second guess your own tone and kick yourself later.
