I'd be more likely to play one if the p90 were in the neck or middle positions. Like most mahogany short scale (Les Paul style) guitars, they tend to be fairly harmonically dead/simple slabs of wood which make them sound great when played loud, and kind of lacking or flat in a lot of other settings.

Harmonically dead? Simple slab of wood? LMAO. I can play 24.75" scale guitars and even mahogany ones in any setting besides loud and make it sound good. This is a terrible statement. I know you're a Strat guy but this is way off even for a biased opinion.
