Is birch ply usually what high quality cabs are made from?

For those who read my other post about the marshall cab im looking at on ebay, i found out its made from birch ply. My question is, since i know next to nothing about cab woods other than chipboard would suck hard!, that is birch ply what the higher quality cabs are made from? In other words, would this cab be a higher quality one than say the current marshall ones...or further still, would this jcm800 lead cab made from birch ply be one of the older marshall cabs that people say sound great?

Birch ply owns. Where things really get interesting is what "grade" it is, like "Marine grade" and how many layers it has (like "9 Ply", "13 ply", etc.)

I had a EBS bass cab made out of "Finnish Birch 13ply", and it was a huge piece of ****. It resonated outta hell, and felt flimsy, even though it was light.

I prefer heavier materials for my cabs. Mahagony (like Aguilar cabs use) or just MDF. The heavier and stiffer, the better

13 Ply is considered your "industrial" strength for cabinets. That's what all of the best cabinets over the years have been using (and why classics like the old Marshall cabs are still around and kicking even through extensive tours).

13 ply birch should be tough as hell and not light weight. weird
