Is it possible to have too many guitars?

Re: Is it possible to have too many guitars?

I have 18 (once the USPS produces the remaining 2 that I haven't received yet) and I'm still bidding on more. I think it depends on whether you want to sell as well as buy. I would sell almost all, but not all, of my current guitars. Once I finish custom painting my first guitar (a RAS kit), I'll be selling it and then painting and selling more and more. Don't forget to "Like" Guitarscapes on Facebook. Yes, I'm a prostitute and not ashamed to admit it.

Trying to downsize from 7 to 3, then when the 7string I want becomes available, I'm grabbin that MF, and I'm out of the guitar buying game.

Re: Is it possible to have too many guitars?

This question has been asked too many times.

The obvious answer has to be a resounding NO!!!

Just because you don' "need" many guitars has nothing to do with it. You don't "need" to go out to dinner for the food value or nutrition or to keep you alive. You go out to dinner because you WANT to.

I have over 30 guitars and don't even play in a band now. Even if I did, I couldn't justify a "need" for so many.

I have them because I like them, I want them, they make me feel all warm and cozy inside, and I actually DO play them all. They give me something interesting to do (modding them continuously). They keep me feeling young even though I'm getting old.

Re: Is it possible to have too many guitars?

Well I do have too many. But only you can decide what that number is. It's gotten to the point for me that I spend more time restringing and working on them than playing them...when I haven't restrung one in a while, even when I'm having the urge to grab it, I'll just pick up the one that is ready to go. So, IMO, it's just too many to suit me and my needs at this point. I'm not free of the GAS monster either though...I'm having some issues with my bass and if I can't get it sorted the way I like I will pick up another. So there we go!

Re: Is it possible to have too many guitars?

Elixers are good for guitars you don't play too often. The coating keeps them from oxidizing and it stays intact if you don't play any one guitar too much. I'm not sure about Cleartones, though.

I don't think it's impossible, but I'm looking forward to finding out.
