HI!

Like the title says is it possible to still buy the Custom shop Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates bridge pickup?

Sure, just email the custom shop.

Yep, they build pickups to order.

What’s the story on these?

If you like the production PG, then you get that ballpark tone but with way more 'zing'. Like the regular version hasn't had the morning caffeine dose yet.

Make sure you keep them unpotted to get the best tone out if them. I'll be having my own version of the CS PG's wound soon.

It's still possible to get a custom shop anything. That's how "custom" works!

I have a set of Custom Shop Pearly Gates in my R7. They're probably my favorite pickups ever! So worth it for my needs.......Antiquitys are REALLY nice too and very close in tone to my ears, and a little cheaper......

What may be confusing is that the Custom Shop website lists 'standard' models, but anything can be built.

Do they really sound better unpotted? I heard the Seth Lovers are unpotted but haven't really heard anything else being unpotted in the Seymour Duncan line. Does the pickup have a lot of feedback with a cranked rock tone?

Re: Is it possible to stiill buy the Custom shop Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates pickups

Unpotted makes them slightly more lively, for want of a better word. If you're a modded marshall type guy tonewise (ie anything modern), you'll have squashed anything subtle out of your tone anyhow - so you're better off with the feedback protection the potting gives.

Unpotted certainly makes them more touch-sensitive. They *will* feed back with a ton of volume and a ton of preamp gain. They won't if you use a great Marshall Plexi tone and you aren't right in front of the amp.
