Is it possible to...

I want to get a new Gibson SG standard, but here's the catch: I want it in white.

Is it possible to custom order a SG standard from Gibson in white?
The dealer i'm going to buy it from orders from Gibson, so I was wondering if I could custom order a white one....

Any help would be great.

Rock.

Re: Is it possible to...

i would ask and find out. i know they will for a price but i don't know what that price would be

Re: Is it possible to...

It's really sad how you can get a Paul any color of the rainbow, but an SG only comes in two or three colors...wtf??
Price is not an issue for me, but I wanted a new one.
I just think an SG in white would be totally killer.

Re: Is it possible to...

i think they used to have them in white, but gibson discontinued it.

i love white/pearl colored axes! and amps!

Thanks for the link, John. But I wanted an SG standard, and I don't have an ebay account.
Good try, though.

The three pup white sg is still in production. MF has them, but recently, they've been put into the "custom" line (like the lp customs), they cost about $2800, if i recall correctly. If you order a custom shop order from gibson, it'll be EXPENSIVE.

Re: Is it possible to...

JohnJohn, there still is a 3 pup SG in white, although only Epiphone makes them now. Actually, I did see a Gibson Custom SG (Hendrix used one of these, killer tone) on MusiciansFriend.com, if that's what you're looking for. But I'm pretty sure you only want the two HB's, right?

If price is an issue get an Epiphone,or buy used and have it repainted.
I went and checked the Gibson site before responding and to be honest I'm really disappointed with their options and selection.Especially for a company that seems hell bent to put everyone else under.
IMHO-for what they are chargeing and their current quality,I wouldn't give them a nickel more than I had too.

Same here. I would buy used or get something else. I will never forgive them for what they did to PRS. :cussing:

Re: Is it possible to...

True that... they killed my favorite guitar. Now I'll never get a singlecut in white. Now that's a good looking guitar. But at least my singlecut I've got is worth a wad of cash now. Still, not worth it.

Another option is to explore some japanese market guitars. I know Edwards (made by ESP Japan) have a very good reputation. They make an SG in white with either a full pickguard or the '62 smaller pickguard. They also make the SG custom with 3 pickups like epiphone. Also they come with duncan's as stock.
Here's the site:

www.espguitars.net

Parts are in japanese but the specs are in english!

I'm actually trying to figure out a way to get one of their Les Paul copies for myself!
