is it really a JB Jr

Hi Guys, saw an advert for some std single pu's and with it comes a Seymour Duncan, the box its in says a JB Jr for strats. Now i'm just getting into guitars so my knowledge on SD pu's is questionable.. so can anyone tell me if the PU in the piccy is a SD (the reason i ask is that looking at SD pick ups in the catalogues they all have 2 lines of "dots" whatever they are and this one only has one) Ignore the 3 single ones

Thanks in advance.

Rich

Thanks Guys, i didn't think it was a SD, but thought i'd get your opinion, as for the seller, this is what he says...

3 electric guitar pickups with volumes and tone.good working order.plus Seymour Duncan brand new hasn't been used..the lot £30

I think a case of false claim, i think i'll stay clear.
Cheers

Definitely a false claim...this is a JB Jr:

We've established the pickup in the box isn't a JB Jr.

Have we established the pickup in the box isn't an unused Seymour Duncan?

Pictures of the bottom would be definitive but from my limited experience with Duncan single coils I would say I've never seen wiring like that with a partially yellowed top and an import looking switch. Going to say nope to being unused SDs.

Re: is it really a JB Jr

Not the junk wired to the switch, the one in the box.

I don't see how anyone could tell without seeing the wires and back of the pickup. It clearly isn't what is marked on the box and if it truly is unused what happened to the original box?

I've bought and sold pickups in the non-original packaging...but it was always disclosed (which is not the case here.)

I'd agree that the seller isn't all that earnest, but using that as evidence that the seller made a false claim isn't quite fair.

I've from time to time told sellers about the products they advertised not being correct, to the outcome of nobody ever changed the description, and the few that responded told me to mind my own business.

HTH,

HTH,

Same here, had one respond with "I didn't know"...he was claiming a MIJ Charvel pointy was an original Wayne Charvel San Dimas.

If the dude changes the description then cool...but I wouldn't count on it.

Hard to tell what is actually in the box, except it slooks like some sort of staggered strat pickup. It could be an SD, but if he has already given bad info (we know this for sure), either he is trying to scam or doesn't know enough about pickups to know.

Re: is it really a JB Jr

It's technically not false advertising. He only claims that it is an unused SD pup, not that it is a JB Jr. He could have removed the single coil pup from his new Strat guitar and replaced the bridge single coil with a JB Jr, and is now selling the original SD single coil. But the picture of it in the JB Jr box is certainly misleading and he absolutely should make it clear that that is NOT what he is selling.

In any case, the pup in the box is definitely NOT a JB Jr!!! We can't even be sure that it is a SD.
