Maybe it gives them some way to exploit some legal loophole should there ever be a real problem? I mean they do it with everything (pedals, bridges, pickups) and it's obviously intentional. Lol, maybe it's from some sense of propriety? My guess is they don't want to go the whole hog because as long as there are fairly obvious differences Fender, Gibson, PRS etc (or all the other brands they copy..everything from Nike's to Luis Vuitton) won't find it worth their while (expense) to really go after them hammer & tongs..I don't understand: if you are going to copy the logo and model name, why fall short on everything else? Just do it right the first time! These aren't even good copies!
Good eyes all of you. The only thing I really noticed was the logo in plastic not pearloid. But what I was really getting at was the China companies marking "made in USA" and using the Gibson logo. I don't know if they made the differences on purpose which is a very insightful point by Phantasmagoria or if they are just in the early stages and soon will be selling copies that are much closer. There are many companies doing this with a variety of guitars and if making the noted refinements will increase their sales some will do it.
Well, the knockoffs have been going on for many many years, maybe into decades.Good eyes all of you. The only thing I really noticed was the logo in plastic not pearloid.
