Is that Guitar Fetish retailer copying SD pickups too closely?

Re: Is that Guitar Fetish retailer copying SD pickups too closely?

unless SD has a patent on mini humbuckers or large polepieces, which i'm pretty sure they dont, it's legal

Re: Is that Guitar Fetish retailer copying SD pickups too closely?

They even have something called a lil' Killer... meaning its a lil' screamin demon clone. Even has the half allen and half screw poles.

Don't raise a fuss I have always wanted a humbucker style QP!

Two examples of obvious copies. Is this legal?
I saw that recently and wondered the same as well.

They use the words "Vintage Staggered" which I know is trademarked by Duncan for the SSL-1, although theirs is ceramic, and probably is only useful under overdrive or distortion. They totally rip off SD on the "classic rail" thing, its basically a cool rials wound to vintage rail specs, And the Hi-lotron pickup is a dead strait ripoff of the Phat Cat, they're also knocking off Grover, Gotoh, Kluson, and Waverly tuners. And they ripped on the SD made Benidetto mini bucker that attaches to the neck. These guys need to be covering their asses good.

ROFLLOL!!! Selling cheapo MightyMite single locking trems as "speedloader style", priceless.

Took my opinion of him right through the basement floor :D:D:D

"These are vacuum wax impregnated"

Re: Is that Guitar Fetish retailer copying SD pickups too closely?

Anyone know if they are any good? They seems to be really cheap. If they are anywhere near SD quality, that is KILLER value for money!

Re: Is that Guitar Fetish retailer copying SD pickups too closely?

Evan, you need to ****ing sue these shiesty bastages!

Re: Is that Guitar Fetish retailer copying SD pickups too closely?

I see the resemblance on the second pup (invader, DUHHHHH seeing as they mention it) but what's the first one a copy of?

Re: Is that Guitar Fetish retailer copying SD pickups too closely?

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, Fusion1. It turns out, we have a design patent on the Little '59. I wrote Mr. Guitar Fetish and told him he was infringing on our patent. It looks like he's taken down the offending auctions.

If you see anything else like this from this guy or anyone, I greatly appreciate you telling me about it.

Re: Is that Guitar Fetish retailer copying SD pickups too closely?

Oh, by the way, I got him to stop his improper use of our trademark "Invader." He's now calling it a "Crusader."

You gotta love it!

Re: Is that Guitar Fetish retailer copying SD pickups too closely?

hahaha! Crusader? what's next... Terminator?

Re: Is that Guitar Fetish retailer copying SD pickups too closely?

LMAO!! I wonder how long he expected to keep that up? :laugh2:

Re: Is that Guitar Fetish retailer copying SD pickups too closely?

It seems funny to me that people on here bitch about DiMarzio's patents, Gibson suing PRS, etc but then get mad about somebody copying Duncan. Don't get me wrong, if you have a patent, you do and should have a right to protect it. The Guitar Fetish guy shouldn't infringe on patents. However, if he wants to make legal, non-infringing, but still obvious copies, more power to him. Competition is always good for the consumer.

"Violator" would have been funnier.

Does Seymour Duncan has a trademark on single coil sized humbuckers with 12 adjustable pole pieces, or single coil humbuckers with pole pieces in general?

Re: Is that Guitar Fetish retailer copying SD pickups too closely?

My take on his products are that they are definately made off shore using cheap foreign labor.
