the DD isn't going to have that weak/flubby palm mute sound like in the video I posted is it? I need it to cut through. Also, is the DD darker or the same as they custom?

DD weak and flubby? Um, no. It's definitely not dark, listen to the clips.

arrived today, and I dropped the guitar off at the shop immediately.
The tech told me it would be ready by saturday, but possibly as early as close of business tomorrow.

Having both the JB and two DDs in guitars, I think you are going to be very happy with the DD, my favorite for metal.
The JB's most impressive claim to fame to me is the ability to nail the '80s Ratt sound to perfection, great for Dokken tones as well. I can't quite get the same from the DD, it falls short. But for more aggressive metal (I'm still an '80s guy), the DD is clearly superior to me. It simply has more cojones, which inspires me to play at my best.

honestly I think teh neck pickup isn't attached to the 'tone' pot, bc I can't seem to hear a difference
THe DD is IN! It is killer, exactly what I wanted. The bottom end is punchy, clear, and crisp. I was going to lose my mind with the SD custom. Great for rock, not so much for metal. Fantastic.
