Is the Hot Rails similar to the Invader?

That`s what I`ve read in a few posts. Don`t ask me why but I`ve always thought of the Invader as a good Punk Rock pickup , probably cause it was in the Tom Delonge sig. Strat. Now correct me if I`m wrong but the Hot Rails works for Hard Rock/Metal?

AFAIK, the Hot Rails is a lot brighter than the Invader.

Don't let Tom DeLonge's choice of gear make you think it's good for pop-punk. :)

I've used both in strats, IMO the Hot rails has less harsh mids and I think actually sounds thicker. I like the hot rails better than the Invader.

Not at all. While still very chunky with good bottom end, I find that the hot rails retains clarity and definition much better than the invader. Its also way better clean. I've always found the Invader too muddy and inarticulate for my tastes, but I love hotrails.

it's THE pop punk pu IMO! But this doesn't mean it's bad for everything else!

I've always thought of the Hot Rails more similar to the Distortion with its output and clarity...

hotrails is nicer i think also. i wish they made a full size version.

Really? I thought the opposite. Maybe it was the guitar/amp settings. In any case, I don't really think the Hot Rails are that similar to the Invader.

I've played the hotrails. I liked them and was shocked when i heard they are similar to the invader. The invader is the opposite from what i want from a pub. The Hotrail has goood highs and good clarity but JB was better ;) IMO

I always thought that the Hot Rails was too muddy sounding. I don't play that type of music though so use that info fwiw.

I totally agree! I felt my opinion was validated when I found out that Josh Homme from QOTSA uses the Hot Rails. :laugh2:
