i have and ibanez s with a neck 59 and ssl5 rwrp and a jb. the ibanez s is a thin guitar someting that makes that the guitar has less punch than other guitars, and i feel that with the JB sounds good but for metal is weak. i want and invader because its sound powerful. but my cuestion is if the invader sounds good for solos and for clean sounds? thanks

Re: is the invader a good pickup?

It depends on the sound you want. It does metal rhythm guitar extremely well. Some people find it a bit too dark for leads and low tunings. It seems to strike a decent balance with guitars that are a bit bright to begin with but by no means does it sound bad. Nile get by with Invaders in big mahogany Deans and tuned down to drop A.

Here's one of my side projects using a Schecter 007 with an invader.

Re: is the invader a good pickup?

I cant stand them for some reason. I used one sometime ago now so maybe my opinion might have changed.

I have a sabre modded with 3 dimarzio humbuckers. super distortion. tonezone and norton. Its a screamer i dont think the thin body takes away anything.

Re: is the invader a good pickup?

I have enjoyed the Invader for solos and clean stuff... As you'll see not everyone else has. I think you should give it a try.

Re: is the invader a good pickup?

If you want cleans... forget the invader... Its a cool pickup... But not for cleans.

If you wire it in series and use a low gain amp it will do cleans but then you have defeated the good aspects of the invader.

Re: is the invader a good pickup?

thanks to all!!! i want the invader for metal and solos. i just wanted to know how it works with clean sounds. i want a powerfull sound but not dirty and good for solos

Re: is the invader a good pickup?

i used my s guitar and a cort x (its a fat guitar) bouth with seymour jb in the bridge and same amp and configuration. the cort was realy much more powerfull than my s guitar. thats becuse i think thin body its beautiful but with less punch

An SG is not the thickest guitar out there . . . and this guy likes his Invaders (and so do I)

Unless you use the Invader to drive an amp like a Bassmsan, JTM-45, or Supro / Silvertone :firedevil

Such a great movie. I had my girlfriend watch it after watching Season 4 of Dexter where John Lithgow played a serial killer.

He asked about the cleans and no one had responded to it so i was telling him what it would take to get a clean tone.. Not drive an amp
