Is the Slash Signiature head the same as a Jubilee?

I tried doing the forum search on this because I would think there would be something talking about it...but I found nothing. It didn't even find anything talking about a Jubilee or even Slash, which sounds like it's not working properly! Anyway, I remember something about them being the same amp...is this true?

Even if it's not true, does the Slash Signiature head kick some serious booty or what???

As far as I know they are the same.

The 2555SL is a good sounding amp but, I like my 2100 better! Costs alot less and sounds better IMO! I had them both at the same time and decided that one of them had to go.

i'd love to own either Slash or a Silver.... think in truth i'd prefer the Silver... The vision of those grey and sliver stacks i saw in 1987 at Steve's Music in Toronto all those years ago is still burning my eyes today... Being a kid from the Burbs i took the subway down there and thought i was in heaven when i found a place that had stacks and stacks of the Silver Marshalls!!!! No way i could afford them then and little chance of me affording them now....

Re: Is the Slash Signiature head the same as a Jubilee?

They are essentially same, exc Marshall had changed a couple of components, not the least being the change to DAGNALL transformers.

Most, if not everyone, would agree that the Slash and Jube sound alike. They DO sound quite good, and few people would pick many other Marshalls over it.

Some would argue the Silver Tolex Jubilees are the more collectible models, though they are so alike.

Re: Is the Slash Signiature head the same as a Jubilee?

In 1987, I freaked out when I saw the silver stacks at local music stores. For the first time, there was actually a Marshall with tons of gain on tap, and it looked cooler than black. I was 17, and sold my Risson and Carvin heads, then borrowed another $200, just so I could get the 2555 100W head. I remember begging the salesman to let me have it cheap, and since I was a kid with cash, he let me have it for $865 even. I used it from 87-92, playing Hollywood clubs, then sold it like a moron for $650. I always kicked myself for that, because it was a really good sounding amp.

Fast forward to 2001, and I came across a local ad for a Silver Fullstack in mint condition for $1500 OBO. I drove 100 miles out into the California desert, not knowing if I was gonna get jacked or find the mint stack. Luckily, some old hippie that works on the California aquaduct had that fullstack sitting in his closet since 88. LOL He took $1400, and I was stoked! This one was the 50W 2550 head and 2 matching cabs, with covers, manual, and Jubilee bumper sticker. WHAT A SCORE!

I'll likely keep the amp as a collectible, but it's tubed up with JJ E-34L's and Sovtek LPS pre tubes, and it sounds amazing. It's a very crunchy highgain sound like old Metallica or Ozzy, so it's not my primary amp these days, but I still love it. Overall, the Bogner smokes it, but they're two different amps. I'll always have a place in my heart for Jubilees, Slash's, and 88 black designer series (black Jubilees). As far as I know, they're all the same, but I think Slash uses both EL-34's and KT-88's in his personal Jubilees.

Yep... IIRC Slash uses KT-88s in one of his Jubilee's for his cleans (the KT-88s give it a lot of good headroom) and the EL-34 Jubilee is for his rhythm and lead overdriven tones.

Re: Is the Slash Signiature head the same as a Jubilee?

Eh, Slash's tone is impossible to dial in. He uses so much differnet stuff, from modded JCM800s, to Jubes, to modded Plexis, normal Plexis, everything up to Vox AC30s and blackface Fenders in some parts of VR Contraband
