Is there a guitar brand called Squire?

After a few arguments on Messenger, I'm curious to know if there REALLY is a brand of guitars called Squire. I've had a few Fender Squiers in my time, but I've never seen a Squire.. Any difference? Or just misspelling? I've heard that harmomy-central has had a similar thread, but I'm not going there..

Anyways, my guitars are Squier it's a Squier website,so is Squire an older brand? :wrf:

"Squire" is a brand of Guitars that is owned by Fender...

Re: Is there a guitar brand called Squire?

So there are "Squires".. Why are they not sold anywhere, just Squiers.. Or did the brand change it name at some point?

Re: Is there a guitar brand called Squire?

As far as I know, they've always been spelled S Q U I E R.

I've never seen a "Squire", even used.

Re: Is there a guitar brand called Squire?

That would mean misspelling.. Hmm.. I know a dude who insists that his old geetar said Squire on it.. Hmm.. Well, an understanable mistake..

Re: Is there a guitar brand called Squire?

Yeah . . . do a search on eBay for "Squire". You'll see hundreds of hits. Then look at a closeup of the headstock . . . "Squier". :laugh2:

EBay "Squire"

My friend has an old Squire. I saw it when I went to his house to try his Rackenbicker.

Originally it had the "e" at the end, I don't remember when they changed it.

I have a second-year Tele (SQ serial number) and the spelling is "Squier".

I've looked at a bunch of first-years in an attempt to find a back up for mine and have never seen it spelled "Squire".

Was it a small run that had the spelling error?

Re: Is there a guitar brand called Squire?

there are squier and squire series , once i heard they are old fenders made in japan , i saw one strat that on the headstock had the regular fender logo but on the side said squire series with little letters so im assuming they are 2 differents and if you find a fender squire its gonna be more expensive than a regular squier

Re: Is there a guitar brand called Squire?
