Is there ANY way to buy guitars from Fender Japan?

Re: Is there ANY way to buy guitars from Fender Japan?

It is my understanding that Fender Japan does offer some models for export to the US that does not interfere with US models.

I purchased a '67 RI and a '68 RI strat from Fender Japan. Both are very nice.

What I like about the Japanese Fenders is the quality and the wide range of models that are not made anywhere else in the world.

Give the MIM 72 Tele Deluxe whirl if you can find one locally. Close to MIA wood except for the poly finish. The MIJ import wood from somewhere else since I don't think the same wood species grows in Japan. The electronic components may be better than MIM but that can be remedied with a few mods.

You can get Chinese guitars but the embargoes pretty much force the N.Korean and Cuban luthiers to sell to each other…or maybe Kim Jung Il just trades counterfeit guitars and US dollars for Cuban cigars. Hopefully someday all three countries will be free so that their citizens enjoy the same rights as we enjoy... and perhaps build and sell fine musical instruments...no politics…just music…but that is too idealistic to be true.
