mean, a set that doesn't in anyway try to be like what was in the olden days...a pickup set that does what maximizes the humbucker design to be everything it can be without trying to sound like 1959???A millennium pickup set...PAF the next generation...

What I am looking for is a pickup set that will drive an amp into Boogie overdrive when the volume is dimed...slowly back down thru overdrive into sparkling clean as the volume gets down to 4....

You are looking for a fuzz pedal. You just didn't know it until now.
Seriously, they do that. They get brighter and thinner as you back off the volume, thicker and woolier as you turn up. Try a $20 Danelectro Fab Fuzz. I swear it is what you want.

Except that Fuzz sound is really the oppisite of "boogie overdrive" distortionwise.

IMHO, the best example of a pickup trying to be the best it can be, with no regard for "convention", would be the PATB series. And a fine job they did at that. It's one of my favorite pup sets. A true "keeper".

To me PAF = Gibson jangles. I went for anti-PAF when I made my DDn/FSn DD/C set.

I’m not as knowledgeable as many other members here but I think a mag swap can increase output. An A8 for example.
Another option would be to have the pickup re-wound hotter. I’m not sure what the cost would be to do that but magnets are dirt cheap.
