Yeah, I knew it was a really old thread. I found it because I was trying to find documentation for that pickup. I had taken a picture of the back of the neck's Pearly Gates pu, but forgot to take one of the bridge pickup that I remember to be marked as a Holy Grail. The guy I bought it from made a big deal about it when I tried to haggle. I had verified its letter codes at the time. I don't feel like pulling strings and removing it for that picture to prove I'm not senile just yet. I was hoping to find another example for my files.

It kinda bugged me that the original poster was probably asking a question that nobody else could answer and assumed he was asking a figure of speech "Holy Grail" instead of the actual pickup that I have. I thought I would update the thread for the next guy...

And still I cannot seem to find any other listing for my pickup though, so I will have to yank it out and look at it again. Maybe I have a very rare pickup.

It's definitely a Seymore Duncan. Here's a picture of the neck's Pearly Gates, the mate to the bridge pickup. I had swapped them out of an 80's Kamen GTX 36 LP to put into a Hondo Deluxe 748 Mark II I just bought. Very cool.Seymore Duncan Pearly Gates jb j pickup.webp

I am kicking myself for forgetting to take a snapshot of the bridge pickup "Holy Grail". I think it had a sticker marked as HGNJ or something. I am in no hurry to start taking things apart if I don't have to. It would have been nice if I could have found another picture and the specs. TBD.

i wonder what that pup is. you can get them to call them whatever you want within reason. next time ya change strings, take some pics! got a meter to get a dcr reading?

Will do. Presently I have just received an 80's A-series MIJ Squire that I bought on an online charity auction. I nearly passed on it because I couldn't get decent photos to fully evaluate it. I should have probably passed on it, but... it was an A series which is kinda rare. My other recent strat is an 80's SQ-series MIJ Squire in almost mint condition. This one - not so much.

It has some really cheap/ugly ceramic pickups and switch that I will replace with something. I think I'll look around for a loaded pickguard for it with Tex-Mex pickups or something. I need to research that. The tuners could use an upgrade, and maybe the tremelo bridge, tbd. So, for the moment I have a new project I am working on.

But when I get to it I will yank that SD Holy Grail out and take a picture - and put my meter to it.
