i was wondering, because i got strat and sg, playing bluesy stuff is way easier on sg(shorter scale), but i like the sound of strat more

is there strats out there with gibson scale?

Re: Is there such guitar :o)

you could probably get a conversion neck, but it'll warm up the tone a bit since there won't be as much tension and the harmonic nodes will be closer together, or somesuch:dunno:

Re: Is there such guitar :o)

so there isnt any out there at all =O i woudl think that there would be demand :I

Re: Is there such guitar :o)

you could always try to make your sg sound strattier;) in fact, with my wiring setup and pickups in my gibson faded, i can get some pretty convincing strat tones, albiet still a bit warmer but still with a good bit of treble cut, if you know what i mean.

Re: Is there such guitar :o)

if you specifically want a strat with gibson scale, maybe

if you mean a single coil guitar with a strat like tone and a gibson scale length then YES. there are tons of manufacturers out there all filling the market with all the options we could dream of.

i dont know what your level of gear expertise is but yeah, all i can say is look at what other brands are putting out and good luck!

i doubt it sounds remotely like a strat but the gibson melody maker uses single coils, just off the top of my head

edit: also gibson has a 3 single coil model of the SG. or HAD. that was maybe a year ago so dont know if it was a limited production thing.

Re: Is there such guitar :o)

Jackson Fusions are Gibson scale but currently CS only.

Imports start at around 150 bucks on Fleabay for the low end toothpaste logoed Charvels, up to about 5-600 for the higher end ones, production USAs and early 90s pros go for around 600-1k, with the USA CS models fetching up to 2.5k depending on age, condition and exact features ;)

is there any in thomann? im not sure what to search since there is ton of guitars

Re: Is there such guitar :o)

Not unless Thomann suddenly decided to Custom order some just for the fun of it. Again, these are NOT currently in production, the used market is where you have to look ;)

in fact the used market should actually have quite a bit more to offer here... I think a lot of the better Charvettes were also 24.75" scale, and I´m fairly sure that Kramer and a few others also offered short scale strats for a while...

648mm /25,4 (conversion factor for MMs to inches) = 25.5"

24.75" (what you´re looking for) *25,4 = 628.6mm

Re: Is there such guitar :o)

Well...changing the scale on the strat will change the sound you love so much. You'll lose some of that tightness (both on feel and tone) and some clarity/definition/string separation. The whole thing will warm up a bit too. It will definitely feel slinky.

Those were my observations from comparing my Strat to a Soloway long scale 6-string and the other tons of short scales I've played. The thing is, they don't make Strats in longer and shorter scales so it maybe isn't a fair comparison, mainly since short scale stereotypically comes with mahogany, and the Soloway was a semi hollow (or was it a full hollow? it's been a while!)

Edit:

If wahwah saw this thread, or any of the Strat die hards here for that matter, they'd all say "Man up and play that Strat!" BTW haha

+1. With a combintion of Phat Cats or P-94's and magnets you can really open up the single coil sound of those PU's. Won't be quite a Strat tone, but it ceratinly won't be humbucker tone. You can make your SG clear, bright, open, and "Strattier."
