Is this crack line on neck something to worry about?

I'm considering buying a used guitar listed online, and I am concerned about the crack line that the seller disclosed in the attached photo. The guitar's neck joint type is Set Thru Neck. This is the only photo the seller provided of this area of the neck.

Does anyone know if this crack is something to be concerned about or not?

Thanks

I have an old Ibanez with a similar crack, I think it's just in the finish, mine's been like that for years and still works like normal.

UPDATE: The seller responded to my request for more info. He says that crack was there when he bought it used from GC back in Year 2010, and it has never propagated further or affected playability. That story sounds reasonable, but I'd still like to hear from someone who knows about these kinds of things.

Sometimes cracks like that are just in the finish. Some are symptoms of a bigger problem. In a picture, they look about the same.

I bought a 2013 Epiphone Matt Heafy seven string with a crack in the neck very similar to that one. Being a seven string, and there for higher tension on that neck joint, I was worried that it would lead to neck issues but I haven't had one since I bought it. The crack is likely just in the finish and not in the guitar itself. It's it's been fine since 2010, I can't see any reason why it would suddenly break unless it gets some serious abuse.

I bought an ibanez destroyer from GC that was new. It had a crack like that so they knocked some off. It was just the finish

Re: Is this crack line on neck something to worry about?

It is probably only the finish but...

...I would not be shaking and bending the neck, using it as a pseudo vibrato, as some players are wont to do.

And make sure you have the correct case.

For a set neck? I don't like it.

It is common to have finish cracking on the bodies of Ibanez, Charvel, etc, bolt-on superstrats. But a set neck guitar is a different beast...

If the price was right, I'd take a chance on it, but it better be a decent deal

Buy the damn thing. It's a finish crack. Gibson and Fender repair guy here with 39 years at the bench. If it breaks - I'll fix it for free.

Try to put wood glue on it to make it stronger

I agree. Likely a finish crack. Wood expands and contracts, a bit is enough to cause major visual issues, but no real structural issues.
