Is this plywood or what? (Closeup pics)

Just took these from the neck cavity of my Squier.
I've seen plywood before, but the thing is the "pancakes" or layers or whatever, actually have a curvature to them, they're not machine flat like I've always seen.

So I'm not really sure if this is a pancake body or a solid wood with a weird pattern, or what.

On the third picture you can see the insides of one of the horns as a reference.

To me, it's plywood. I just wanna make it extra sure before bolting it together again.

That's just the natural grain -- nothing to worry about.

Re: Is this plywood or what? (Closeup pics)

You think so? That would be good news.
This one's always sounded good to me, a bit duller than my Ash Strat definitely but not in a bad way.
So what could it be? It doesn't look like Alder, too busy.
Agathis, Poplar?

Here's a pic of the front:

Definitely NOT plywood. That's flatsawn grain.

Grain. Recuerda buey, if it were ply wood, you would be able to point out distinct separations, and these would not look skin deep.

i've never seen a plywood body with a natural finish. i sanded a body down once and found it was ply; you'd be able to tell from the sides, and the contours/cut-aways.
that one's definitely not ply, as stated above.

Hadn't thought about Ash... it does look like it.
Heh, 10 years playing electrics and you keep learning stuff everyday. Awesome. :)

An SE Asian species of the Ash family, Sen, perhaps?

Looks like Ash to me too. And like any other wood it can vary dramatically weight wise. I had 4 G&L Legacys at one point, and only 2 were similar in weight. What was apparent was that the heaviest one sounded the "dullest" when played acoustically but also the biggest when amplified.

Squier plywoods layers are completely parallel to each other. It'd look like this:

I feel lucky. :D I paid 70 bucks for this one used...
In comparison, less than what a new Duncan '59 costs here in Chile.
I always thought this one was plywood! Not really sure why, and I always thought it was a good sounding guitar for what it was.
After my Screamin' Demon arrives, I'll take the JB outta my Ibanez and put it in this one.
Gonna be at home for sure. :D

Dominus, that's exactly what I had in mind too. My old Epiphone is like that, perfectly parallel.
I noticed they were curve in this one and thought WTF. That's why I took the pics and asked you all what it is.
