Is this possible?

So I am thinking of reworking my Fender Stratocaster to squeeze some different sounds out of it. What I want to do is get rid of the 5pos switch all together. I want the 3 pickups to have their own on/off mini-toggle, tone, and volume controls. That way I can run all three, just one, or any combo I want with individual tone and volume controls to mix them right at the guitar. Anyone know if this is already being done and if so what the wiring diagram looks like. Anyone know if someone makes mini-pots for volume and tone. Gonna run out of room real fast. If it matters I'm going with these pickups more than likely Top: Cool Rails, Middle: SSL-7, Bottom: Hot Rails.

I saw this switching device http://www.awesome-guitars.com/1-details.htm but it looks like it uses a master volume and tone. I'd like individual tone and vol per pickup. Think SD could work me up a loaded pickguard?

Re: Is this possible?

Yeah, it sounds like it could be done. Some older guitars whos names I can't quite remember had individual on/off switches for each pup. It's not something that appeals to me personally because I think it would make it really awkward to switch between, say, your neck and bridge pup mid-song. I would much prefer to have a standard 5-way and an on/off switch for the neck or something similar.

On the topic of pots, you could try stacked concentric pots to save space. They can be a little awkward...but your switching system is awkward anyway. :p

Re: Is this possible?

My Carvin DC-135 HSS originally came wired with 3 switches wired series/off/parallel with Master Volume and Master Tone.

I'm thinking it would be a simple matter to wire 3 concentric pots like Kam suggested and 3 switches like that, no problem.

Hot and Cool Rails could be wired series/off/parallel(or coil cut) and the SSL-7 tapped/off/untapped.

Carvin FTW on this one : popworm:

See if you can track down some wiring diagrams - those guys are the kings of switches!

...Right after a BC Rich that one of the forum bros got a few months back... the name escapes me... but it was something like 8-14 mini toggles on top of the regular controls. If someone can find it post a pic!!

I think it was H8red that got it. That's not a picture of his guitar, though.

Re: Is this possible?

Just wire one of the pickups to a separate switch and you can keep the 5-way switch but still have all 7 possible pickup combos.
