If i wanted to wire a guitar with hsh to be its most versitile would it be like this:

5 way selector

1. Neck and mid
2. Bridge and Mid
3.Neck and Bridge and Mid
4. Mid
5. Neck and Bridge

Then 3 way toggle on the hums for Kill switch, coil tap, regular
Push pull pots to split the hums
Push pull pot on the Single for a kill switch

Or please suggest another

Re: Is this setup the best for vesitility?

1 bridge
2 bridge middle
3 middle
4 middle neck
5 neck

toggle switches for splitting HBs if you like that split sound

For the most versatility, you'd want individual on/off switches, and seperate split switches for each pickup.

itll end up lookin like one of them bc rich biches with a million and one switches on it

ditto this one, except i prefer pull push or push push pots.

push push are more discrete but you might forget whether the split is on or off, whereas pull push you'd need to be blind :)

i like my H_S_H wiring scheme ...

standard ibanez 5 way (can be done with any 5-way - super/mega switch even better)
1 mini toggle (on-off-on)
one push/pull pot (DPDT)

pos 1 - neck only
pos 2 - neck + middle parallel
pos 3 / pot pushed - middle only
pos 3 / pot pulled - neck + bridge parallel
pos 4 - bridge + middle parallel
pos 5 - bridge only

the "on/off/on" mini toggle lets me select "stud coil only / both coils / screw coil only" for the neck and bridge ... so in position 3 with pot pulled, i get "inner coils / all coils / outer coils" .. i had to do a magnet flip and reverse wiring on one of the humbuckers in order to keep the inner / outer combos humcancelling, but that was easy

good luck

...and you'll probably never use anything but the neck or bridge. :)

With all those set ups you cant get all three pups on together and there is a seperate kill switch and split.

In fact with my way you only need a 3-way switch
1.Neck and Mid
2.All three
3.Bridge and Mid

Then the kill switch can Take out the mid in all the above settings or the bridge or neck aswel. Also then you have the Coil taps and hum splits.
