I bought my Epi LP Std. about 18 months ago, and the only thing I've changed on it were the pickups. I added knob pointers, and a TP-6 tailpiece (that many do not seem to like). It's all good to me.

A good guitar, is a good guitar. One of the great flaws in comparing the cost of a modded Epi, to a stock Gibson; many people still find a way to spend to spend a couple, to several of hundred modifying a budget Gibson! Oops!:9:

It is also worth noting that there could be production-line guitars out there which come stock with the features you are interested in. Sometimes a new guitar could cost less than the upgrades someone would plan for their current guitar.

The problem is that it's an Epiphone.

Definately sounds like a problem to me!! I say flea bay it and get a Fender Strat HH, or a Tele SH.

If you like the guitar and can tell that it is a good platform, mod it . Epis arent bad guitars due to the name. There are bad epis , bad gibsons etc.. I know several guys using epis to play live as they dont want to take thier Gibsons out of the Vaults...

I have a Squier strat that Ive modified VERY heavily. It was a solid player to begin with and is a monster now!
Many of my buds said, dont waste your time and money as it'll still be a squier. And, it may not have any resale value, but I dont want to sell it. Its one of the best strats Ive ever played, plus, I learned to work on guitars and even tho I have alot invested in it, Its still ALOT less than a USA Fender.

So, if it feels good and plays good now, it could be better upgraded. If you are wanting to upgrade to make a dud play like a gibson, that isnt gonna happen.. You cant polish a turd..
