Original Hiwatts with Partridge transformers put 500+vdc on the screens which no current made EL-34 can sustain. Not sure if that pertains to your amp.
look forward to you firing it up! build looks great. about how much time you think you have into it so far? just curious since ive never done anything close to that complex
So what's the first tune you are going to play?
How does that happen? Honestly, I have no idea.
ooof! yeah, somethings outta whack there. take anything else out with it?
Is it heavy? Are you gonna build a cabinet? I was just listening to sweet HiWatt tones on King Crimson's Red.
#22Just the 100 ohm ceramic immediately upstream.
Both have been replaced now, and I ran the amp up to full power, but with the EL34s removed and the common feed from the 470 ohm burnt offering to the EL34 grids disconnected. All good so far.
I think it's probably a short (or shorts) on the EL34 sockets. New sockets arrive tomorrow.
I'm practicing safe electrical protocol. The common or black wire to the multimeter has an alligator clip on it, clamped to the chassis, and I'm probing VERY carefully using the red (hot) probe one handed.
