Congrats Jeff on your beautiful new guitar! There's nothing like finding that perfect for you Paul; it becomes one of the family and a partner for life. Enjoy!

Jeff, that's a beautiful guitar. I hope you play it for hours and hours without stopping!

If it's not a secret, what was the damage of that purchase? And where did u get it from?

Naw, it's not a secret. $1650 shipped to my door via 2 day air. I couldn't pass up the deal, even though I had just bought annother Lester. I got it off eBay...thru a Guitar Center Auction. They had it listed in an auction that I was watching, but thought was listed too high based on the fact the guitar was setup for 70 gauge low E strings...I knew it would need a nut and a setup. So the auction ended without any bids, I e-mailed the GC and made them an offer. A couple of e-mails later we had a deal.

Not a scratch, not a ding, not a bump on the guitar. It's in better shape than most of the one's hanging on the wall at GC. They're even sending me a new bridge assembly, because I specifically asked if the bridge saddles had been enlarged to accomodate the larger strings, and they said no. Sure enough when it got here...it had been. They're pulling a bridge off a Historic in their shop and sending it too me. Cool eh?

I found out that this guitar belonged to the Sales Manager of Guitar Center. Not bad for a 98' model.

she's a goldtop at heart! :D
after all thats happened in the past few days I can just go play her and forget all about it

also I thought I would add my insight on the infamous 57 'fatass' neck.
My hands are regular sized for my age, so that means small for you guys. And I adore this neck!
So many people are scared of this neck! I really don't think anyone could not like it because its too big, to me its not a size thing, its more of a feel that once you play for a little bit, you wander why you ever questioned it, and why there is such thing as small necks in the first place! :laugh2:

Re: It's In The House - OMFG!

Congratulations Jeff. :)

I don't give a sh1t what the infidels say, Les Pauls are the business and you can't have too many. I adore my two every time I play them, and I was adoring the Limehouse Lizzy ones, watching and listening the other night. No other guitar does it like that for me.

I can't make up my mind on the necks. The fatter 50s neck is definitely more comfortable, but I have smallish hands and I can stretch further on the 60s slim neck. Hard to explain, as the scale length is the same, but I can get up the top end a lot easier on the slim neck. Love 'em all anyway.

Mmmmm goldtop. :32:

Les Pauls rule! :saeek:

Congrats man, sweet!

Here's a pic of my 1982 30th anniversary Goldtop that I bought new in '86, I guess the goldies weren't the "in" thing during the 80's because it sat on the shelf for four years. I got it for $600, the list price was $1199, discount price $840, last one $599. I lucked out big time.
