It's time : II

Re: It's time : II

I really don't know what else to say about where this thread ended up except the fact that for your information, I read the posts I hadn't read.

The red LP was not bad because it had a circuit board.

I didn't like that the "cheaper" LP sustained better.

for some reason I thought the $2700 LP standard was going to sound at least AS good, but that wasn't the case, It didn't give me that huge sustained shaking bend kind of sound I heard in the custom classic.

I'm interested in a double cut gretsch guitar, I was recommended the 1962 country gent and decided to check it out.

I can't buy the guitar yet, I don't have the cash. this is a progress thread, with the purpose of letting you all know how it went when I decided to head to my favorite local dealer and talk to them about my plans. they immediately gave me access to the guitars I wanted to try and didn't give me any harsh looks, no matter how long I had my hands on one of them.

carry on.

the gretsch is amazing.

Re: It's time : II

Okay, fella.

Just make sure that your Gibson LP comes with Brokebacker pickups. ;)

Re: It's time : II

yeah you guys are absolutely right. I don't spend a lot of time on my computer, unless I have work that has to be done on it, and I am normally pretty busy. in my interactions with others, I am used to seeing their body language, hearing their tonality, things like that. I haven't been on this site very long, so I don't know everyone on here or what their personalities are like. but when I was a kid, I knew this one kid named teddy. he was somewhat feminine, didn't really know how to stand up for himself, and with a name like that, you can imagine what it was like for him. we weren't super close or anything, but I knew him for years, and I always thought he was a nice kid. I never saw him be mean to anyone or anything, but I saw him get picked on, beat on and bullied by other kids countless times. he'd usually try and smile or laugh it off, but I could tell by the look in his eye he didn't think it was too funny being pushed around and bullied. but still, I didn't really think about it or care all that much. I was just a kid, and I was too busy having fun with my friends and stuff like that. I ended up moving to a different town in highschool but a few years later, I found out that that kid killed himself. I don't know if it was necessarily because of the way people treated him, but I'm sure that it didn't help. so yeah, I do have a tendency to over react if I ever see or hear someone being treated poorly by others. it doesn't always make me friends, but I'd rather over react than under react.

I hope at least one person will read this and maybe think about what I'm saying for a second. I'd give just about anything if I could go back and be nicer to that kid or stand up for him, or even just say a couple of nice things to him every now and then. maybe things would have been different if he'd had just one friend back in school...but I guess I'll never know.

+1. :thanks: Bumping this because it's very good food for thought.

I received a fair bit of bullying throughout my years in school, because I was shamelessly myself, which was different from most kids. I'm so glad I had good parents and a few friends to help me through it because the best revenge is living well. I'm way more confident and content with my life than any of the miserable haters I've seen since graduating.

FF, Even if you & Astro are friends and it's in jest, it's not always funny to other person. Maybe Astro could take these comments in jest but I'm not so sure his band-mate would.

Re: It's time : II

A-ha. This thread appears to be going around the "being offended on behalf of a third party" cycle again.

Anyone who posts absurd images like the ones Astro did in post #1 is asking to have the micturation extracted. I sometimes think that he does it on purpose.

Re: It's time : II

Perluss Whun.

He's still a :cool3: d00d, though.

Glenn: buy a guitar already! Or not.

Rock on.:headbang:

Re: It's time : II

Buy Gretsch = sound great, look cool, play stadiums, become famous, get your own signature model Gretsch.

Buy Les Paul = sound cliche'd, look cliche'd, play stadiums, disappear forever into ocean of people doing exctlly the same thing.

You forgot the part where he'd get a signature model Gibson. One that people on guitar forums will undoubtedly call ugly and say it'd be perfect if only <insert giant list of features> were different.

this reminds me of what the people who were there with me said.

they said the LPs sounded great, but they sounded like just a couple of LPs.

here in PRs, Les Pauls are pretty common, in a sense cliche.

LPs are pretty common just about anywhere, man, and I love em. I wouldn't let something like that hold me up, though I DO like playing my Czaddy partly just because it's different.

I really need to get my hands on a Gretsch, or at least some of those TV Jones for the Czaddy.

Re: It's time : II

This thread is getting me all hot and bothered. I think I am going to go home and play my Gretsch AND my Les Paul tonight... maybe even at the same time... ladies.

Re: It's time : II

A good Gretsch is like nothing else, and they're far more versatile than most people think.

Go for it!

+1.

My brother is a Gretsch fanatic and I play them every chance I get. Not just duane eddy, setzer, gene vincent tones in there.

Just to make a fair and balanced post : I am also offended by the cyber bullying. Bad funkfingers.BAD! On the good side, Astro has the comfort of his boyfriend to get through it, I am sure.

Re: It's time : II

I would personally get a Gretsch White Falcon, and a few Les Pauls.........Oh wait, I already did that.:)

Yeah BUT you did something boring first. You worked and earned the money to pay for the toys.

Re: It's time : II

Glenn likes fender guitars, his girlfriend, carne asada burritos, and red les pauls.
