I had a Gretsch PowerJet, and I have a Les Paul. I sold the Gretsch after about 6 months.

This has no consequences what so ever on what you should buy. Not even a little.

the country gent is no longer at display at my local shop. they took it down and put it in the case the day after I tried it and spoke to them, I've been buying from them for years, first time it's a guitar though.
