Only reason I considered this is cause I thought Duncan coils were matched, something about DiMarzio having the patent for mismatched coils.
If I sent it in for a rewind, would they charge less than the quoted online price if I sent only the empty bobbin? Less work for them. I can reassemble it myself.
Not my style, but that's very creative.If you're not going to rewind your ruined coil, turn it into a Duncan pendant. Duncan even sells them. I got one at the last User Group Day.
Take gold string and wind it where the wire was, and add a chain.
Would the wrong coil be unusable? I assumed that I could swap the leads (to reverse current flow) and replace the slugs with screws. Or am I wrong about that?I'll point out there's no guarantee that the next dead p'up you find will have the right coil shorted out. Bite the bullet, and send the survivor for repair...
