Jackson Adrian Smith replica

Re: Jackson Adrian Smith replica

but what's the big difference between these two measures?

One is wider than the other, plain and simple. You cannot put a neck with a 2 1/4" heel width on a body with a 2 3/16" heel width. It will not fit.

Adrian Smith rocked in the day!

but the measure affect the playability or the construction? how?

It affects both. Construction wise, your body will not accept a 2 1/4" heel width neck, the neck pocket on the body is too narrow. I don't know any other way to explain it. Playability wise, you'll notice it more in the upper fret area, about the 12th-15th fret up to the 22nd. It feels a bit "beefier". If you have big hands, this can be a good thing. If you have small hands, I recommend going with 2 3/16", which is the Fender standard heel width.

can you give me some examples of the guitars that use this kind of measure ?(2 1/4" and the 2 3/16)

Re: Jackson Adrian Smith replica

There's no point in going with a wider heel, stick to standard measures to avoid trouble. But otherwise, I can't imagine it being hard for a luthier to make the body heel slightly wider, what would be the problem?

But it all depends how picky you are about the details really... Do you want to make an exact replica or just something similar? I get the sense that you're not going for an exact replica anyway since your using a Floyd Pro, slightly different neck pickup, HSH instead of HSS/HH... So I would just get a Warmoth neck and be done with it. Who cares about if Adrians necks had a 12-16 instead of 10-16 compound for example, as long as it isn't about building an EXACT replica? Warmoth's 10-16 compound necks are about as good as it gets in my opinion, and VERY reasonable prices as well. But Musikraft makes good stuff as well, I have one of each actually. :)

Re: Jackson Adrian Smith replica

That's actually a decent suggestion . . . the So Cal is basically set up the same way that you want to mod this strat.

no it isnt , here the charvel socal is very expensive , i can´t buy it.
but i can pay for the luthier do the service.

Then I would have the "luthier" build the entire guitar from scratch to the exact specs that you want. Anything else is just a Squier...
