Jackson DK2S floyd rose

Hi everyone!

So I changed the strings on my Jackson DK2S (Jackson Floyd Rose Bridge) and one of the nuts that hold the strings kind of cracks (from fatigue of metal, i presume).


I'm trying to pull it out, but in case i won't succeed - would a genuine Floyd Rose bridge fit in or do I HAVE to buy a Jackson Floyd Rose?

You can replace that saddle if that's what you wanna do.
Yes, you can replace the floyd with an original floyd. Buy the whole kit, that should have everything in it..

Another option is take the bridge to a machine shop or auto repair shop. They should be able to remove the broken screw if your unable to do it yourself (there are a few tricks, search online). Then just get an appropriate sized screw from the hardware store. From your photo it looks the the low E string screw has already been replaced.

I like AllParts, they have quality stuff compared to some of the other places I have purchased from. If you were closer, I would just fix the saddle for you but we are several thousand miles apart.

It might not be as easy as swapping in an original.

From the ones I seen the block is the biggest obstacle. All parts will be able to walk him thru what works.
At some point the JT580 Jacksons were made by Schaller and licensed an prior to that they were ching chong pot metal junk.
That is the other thing that has to be checked. If he send pin centerline dimensions and block size they can match him up.

I've tried numerous ways to pull out the broken nut, but with no success. Thus, I've decided to order the saddle from allparts (big big up shooter!)
Now for my last question: should I change all the saddles? because the new saddle will be significantly younger than the other 5.
Does that affect the tone or something like that?

The JT-580 was never made by Schaller. You're thinking of the JT-590 which was a Schaller Floyd with a Jackson logo and used extensively in the early 90s. Later Jackson switched to the JT-580 which was made by Takeuchi in Japan.

dystrust is correct, but an Original or a Special will either go in there, as will a Gotoh. The block *may be an obstacle, 37 mm is about the max in a Dinky, and it *might slightly rub on the arm side of the baseplate, which is easily fixed by slightly sanding the cavity. Because the plate is symmetrical on the JT580LP and it's not on the FR there will also be a larger gap between the baseplate and the cavity on the upper (opposite of the arm) side. This *might be a distraction for people with OCD, but it doesn't have any impact on function.

All that said, you could just get an ez-out and get a new bolt at the hardware store. The JT trem is a completely usable and decent trem, regardless of what you'll read on the internet. I like the replace the stock posts and anchors with the fine thread Floyd Rose parts though.

Just replacing one doesn't hurt anything. It may look slightly different, but that's just cosmetic and hardly noticeable. I had a saddle break in two on my Ibanez RG320. It uses the same Floyd low profile saddles, and the replacement made no difference in tone.
