Jackson RR1--is it worth it?

Oh bull****. The '97 was probably just set up by a tech that knew what he was doing. Stupid salesmen. I had a 2000 KV2 Korina that kicked ass and is the sole reason I wanted another after having to sell it to get my Bich last year. USA Jacksons play great. But that JB in the bridge... barf. I have a distortion in my KV2 now. Sounds great. The KV2 had two JBs when i got it. Horrible sound. Blech

So you're in jersey huh? Did you go to the Guitar Center in East Brunswick or new brunswick or where ever?

I have to agree 100%... much fewer quality Control issues and blems coming out of the CS since the move to Corona... IMO anyone who touts "pre-Fender" Jacksons as superior needs to play one made post 2k2. Jackson does a ballpark setup before shipping, but final setup has always been the dealer´s reponsbility, and under 1/16" is no problem on old or new ;)

And an 8 month wait is definitely on the long side, normal for a dealer with a good standing and a standard finish is more like 3-4 ;)

BTW: to fight off the ESP invasion, the Sharkfin Gang once again appears.... and to prove that EDS can look totally badass :headbang:

BTW, 4k is totally insane for a Jackson, Find a different dealer... I can get a seven string all mahogany Baritone with a graphic and Floyd for less than that.... quit paying list price (or even MAP) and talk to decent dealers, boys... www.vwallguitars.com + www.mattsmusic.com ;)

I agree with Zerb. My 2005 SL-2 plays like an absolute dream. No issues whatsoever and its action is below 1/16, although I'm considering raising it a tiny bit. The current USA models are definately not second to those that are pre-Fender.

I've been GASing for a USA Jackson lately too. How much would I expect to pay for a new KV2, RR1, SL1, or DK1 if I were to negotiate the price down at places like VWall or Matt's?

I got mine from a local guy here. I got it for $1300 without even trying to haggle. I'd imagine $1200 would be conceiveable for an SL2H from those guys, maybe even less - but I've never talked to them. I'm sure I will if/when I get ready to buy another Jackson.

Wow, someone outbid me already on the RR1 I thought a bid of $800 would last a few days before getting knocked off. This guy was funny though. He kept bidding small increments at a time until he outbid me. I love guys like that! I've seen people bid way over what you would pay at a store for something, just to win the auction. Two or three people get into bidding wars and just keep outbidding, outbidding, outbidding. Cracks me up.
