Jagstang with jazzmaster bridge pup

Halo

I've tried other forums and hopefully you guys can help.

I have a 97 Jagstang that I am in the middle of refinishing. I wanted to change it up a bit and wanted to know if I could fit a Jazzmaster bridge pup in the back slanted humbucker route? Would I need to route the body? I can order a pickguard that can take a full sized humbucker and wanted to know if the JM pickup is the same size as a humbucker?

Thanks for your help...

Re: Jagstang with jazzmaster bridge pup

You would need a new pickguard because the Jazzmaster pickup is different in size. It also has different mounting hardware. You may also need to enlarge the pickup cavity to make the Jazzmaster fit. Although you could put a humbucker sized p90 in the pickguard without modification. There are plenty to choose from. P90's have a different tone than the Jazzmaster pickups though. P90's are far more popular than Jazzmaster pickups.
