I don't think you can find better Jaguar pickups than the Duncans...especially the Antiquitys. I think Jaguars are dreadful guitars tho. I had one of the first when I first started playing guitar in the early 60's and I hated it. Plinky, plinky, plinky...no balls.
Traded it for a real '56 Les Paul. MUCH better! (Those were the days....)

The Ant II is the one described by SD as being the closest to a real 60's Jag pickup. Go to products, look up Antiquity, look up Jaguar and see what you think.
I don't think you're going to find anyone here who's tried them tho....unless it'd be Evan! :laugh2:

check ebay every so often. or check out jag-stang.com, and ask some of their forum guys if they have any left over, as I think a bunch of them got the Duncans too (as I probably will soon). The Japanese Jag is a great guitar, but my pickups are extremely microphonic. Also, I believe original and AV reissues had both pickups wired together for humbucking or something like that (found a wiring diagram for it once, I'll look for it again).
That said i personally LOVE the Jag clean tone! (Then again I HATE the way humbuckers sound clean for some reason... Though I never was too into the sound of distorted single coils either). Granted, the Jag isn't for everyone, but it accomplishes what it was built to (plunky, surf noises) and turning on the rhythm circuit warms up the sound nicely (not even many owners know what all the damn switches do).

I have a 1964 Jaguar (MIA) and a 1998 (MIJ)...
There is little tone difference between these two guitars; however, you should know how to set up the bridge (Use a Mustang bridge and a Stay-Bar, to hold the strings down).
The tone can be too nasal if not set up properly. However with the correct FENDER amp the Jaguar can rip out some nice tone.
It is not a Tele or a Strat and it's output is less than either of those or a Mustang, Jazzmaster and of course any gibson. Still, it does have a place in the jazz and church music world.
Finally, I play mine and get the best ever "Lenny" vibrato tone from mine.... Better than my strats.
