Jateleguar progress

when i was cutting the body, the router jumped and ripped out a piece of the body... so i have to take half an inch off the rear of the body. i'm also debating on how much to chamber it without sacrificing structural strength. bubinga is heavy as ****.

Re: Jateleguar progress

I have never used the tool, so I have to ask: do you have to apply force to make those holes or does the router do it itself?

do you simply guide it or do you have to push down? All those marks look to me like you had to spend some serious time on it.

Those were made with a Forstner bit in a drill press, not a router.

also, that flamed top is sex-eh

Re: Jateleguar progress

Yea the drill press took about 30 minutes, but it's a lot safer than free-handing with a router.

Re: Jateleguar progress

Ouch! on the router chunk, but it's turning out nice since. Good recovery.

How much does the body weigh at this point?

That sucker would look mighty sweet with a Les Paul style faded cherry sunburst/honey burst.

Re: Jateleguar progress

Yeathe body needed to be smaller anyway with the short scale.

It feels really light now, but i did chamber the hell out of it. Ill get an exact weight after i route it.

Not doing any bursts here. Doing a PRS style black on the soft grains and redish brown on the hard grains with natural binding. Although i may attempt a subtle fade to black around the edges.

Re: Jateleguar progress

That freekin looks awesome. I like how you swept the top back forward to eliminate the chunked out part. I think it looks much better like that.
