Jateleguar progress

Re: Jateleguar progress

Yea the drill press took about 30 minutes, but it's a lot safer than free-handing with a router.

Not to mention bubinga is so hard, it would take a toll on the router and bit. I've done similar semi hollowing with a router, but on mahogany or limba. Nice and soft.

Re: Jateleguar progress

was it hell on the bit? what kind of bit is it?
Forstner bits are designed specifically for this.

They are really more of a "cutter" than a "bit."

This is what a Forstner bit looks like, and here is what the process of hogging out wood on a body looks like:

Re: Jateleguar progress

Is that a T-rod adjuster in the side of the heal? If so you'll have to let us know what you think of it after you get a chance to play with it a wile.

i messed with it a little bit. basically you just set the main one at the heel of the neck permanently in one position and use the side adjuster without having to remove the neck. it's pretty cool.

Re: Jateleguar progress

My two favourite Fenders joined together.... Sweet. What pickups are going in there? Look forward to hearing it if that will be a possible thing.

Re: Jateleguar progress

Using a GFS classic alnico2 humbucker in the neck and a chris white custom 9k tele bridge pickup with alnico 8 mags.

Definitely making videos.

Still needs finishing touches, and I'm waiting on the nut to come in. Then it's time to stain and oil.

Great!! This guitar looks really cool! I think the body was a bit too large in the beginning, the router accident brought it to the "correct" size. ;) Looks amazing.

Re: Jateleguar progress

The top is getting a black to red effect on the quilt. The back is staying natural. Probably using tung oil on all of it.

Re: Jateleguar progress

I set up the action and wired up the neck pickup just so i could hear how it sounds while I'm waiting on the bridge pickup. It sounds ****ing glorious!!!! I love semi-hollow guitars and PAF's. the 24" scale is very slinky too... It's getting 10-52's for the next string change.
