Jazz Bridge model

I've searched the forum and get the message that the Jazz bridge model sounds awesome as a rock/metal/shred pup for the bridge.

is this still the prevailing opinion by those who use it? I play metal...thrash to shred and like a lot of clarity, tightness, and picking articulation for soloing. but I also like those chunky Megadeth rhythms.

is the Jazz bridge model pretty balanced tonally?

does it sound especially good in any particular wood(s)?

I have a Jackson Soloist that I'd like to try this pickup in. it's 25.5" bolt-on with maple neck, ebony fretboard, alder body, and OFR. it's a single humbucker job, with a single 500k vol pot.

thanks

Re: Jazz Bridge model

welcome to the forum!!

the jazz bridge has "a lot of clarity, tightness, and picking articulation " and can be plenty chunky with the right amp

Re: Jazz Bridge model

If you have an amp or rig that has enough of its own gain on tap, the Jazz bridge will suit you VERY well for those styles. Plus, many other styles also by tweaking amp settings.

Re: Jazz Bridge model

thanks for the replies

I got a couple of pretty hi-gain amps: VHT UL Pittbull, Soldano Decatone, and a Marshall 2203 w/ Soldano Hot Mod.

I was reading those posts again and I get the notion the Jazz bridge sounds great in Lesters? in that case, would it sound better in mahogany rather than alder? or am I picking nits? I just don't like icepicky highs.

if I want it in trembucker format, do I just need to contact the Custom Shop? wonder how long it takes to get one made?
