Yo !
I like the Jazz neck , but thought it was still a bit too fat compared to my Demon8 bridge , i was tempted to try al8 in it but , i just swapped the 6 screws for 6 allen head screws from a Dimarzio HFH .
And this is magic , slimmer and tighter bass , fluty highs , more percussive like a Demon , it make me think about Maalmsteen tone !!!

I Just replaced the 6 bobbin screws in my Dimarzio VPAF Neck pickup with "Fred" allen screws and I felt it trimmed some lows away....A slight amount..I think the other things I did probably made more difference?

Re: Jazz From Hell !!!

Yes but to start with the Jazz is probably more tight in the lows than the Vpaf, so it did the job .
What is this other thing you did to the Vpaf ?

Not the VPAF,but different strings, lowered my cap value on the neck tone pot to .012 and went with a slightly higher reading 550K volume pot...My VPAF N was too woofy in the lows, but it's "alot" better now!

I have a Jazz N coming to try out...The VPAF is pretty tight, direct, loud, and I feel very articulate and clear also...It has this great 3D quality about it that I find I'm really liking....It's like an "airy" tone thats hard to explain?

Dimarzio did a nice job on the VPAF series!

Re: Jazz From Hell !!!

You will find that Jazz is louder and more punchy and articulate than 59 .
Good to hear that you solved the Vpaf mud :cool3:
When you get your Jazz will do a Jazz vs Vpaf ?

Probably need to do an A/B between the 2.....The Jazz is tighter and louder than the VPAF N? Holy sh%t! This VPAF is pretty powerful and direct! Hard to think the Jazz would be moreso?

The 59N A5 is way too woofy...The A4 helps.

I thought the Jazz has less output than a 59 even

And listening to the clips,I hear less in the lows, more highs,a bit thinner by comparison, and probably articulates better than the 59N,Seth,AP2,or the PGN....At least that's what I was hoping?

Re: Jazz From Hell !!!

No Stratdeluxer , i ment Jazz is louder than the 59 .
On the shart the 59 seems louder but not in reality cause 59 has a big mid dip and less articulation witch makes less punchy .
59 have more gain but less punch , i felt it.
