Jazz Humbucker resistance

hello everyone.
i've just bough a SD Jazz from ebay and find out that there is no sticker on the back.
the seller say that je think it's jazz(neck) also becaus it was paired with a JB in the bridge.
The problem is this: the resistance wrote un the back of the PU ( by his liuther) is 7.1k ; i've also measured that with a small analog tester and it's on the 7 and far from the 8 so i think that's 7.1k for real!

so how can it be a jazz?.. Looking the chart it should be at 7.72 K

please help!
the pu is for my SG and i need the JAZZ tone!
if u want i can make and add pics!

many thanks to everyone who can help me..

Re: Jazz Humbucker resistance

Mine only measures 7.2k.

What kind of jazz sound are you going for. In my opinion, the Jazz isn't all that jazzy. The Phat Cat, APH, Seth, 59, or even the PG do a better job of traditional jazz tones.

Re: Jazz Humbucker resistance

oh so i'm gonna put on guitar and find out if it's really can be jazz.
i've look at that because i was searchin a good clean tone for my sg when i play rock songs on clean channel (e.g. sultans of swing)
the factory installed gibson 490r was muddy and no way usabel for clean tones!...it was ok for od but then stop.
i was first thinkin for jazz / 59 or famous jazz / jb combination, but after a lot of research i've obtained for jazz / custom5!
i think it will be the best choice for me ..i've to play rock / hard rock tones

so i'm gonna try and say if it can be a real tona for a sd jazz:fingersx:

PS: nice avatar. i love simpsons!

Re: Jazz Humbucker resistance

I have a Jazz Neck here that´s labeled and also only 7.05k, works just fine and sounds like a Duncan Jazz....

I´m pretty sure you´ll be fine if the Jazz is really the right pickup for where you want to go in your tonal quest ;)

Re: Jazz Humbucker resistance

If your guitar's natural tone is dark and meaty, the Jazz will probably sound pretty good. Otherwise, snag an Antiquity, Seth, A2P -- or one of mine...

Re: Jazz Humbucker resistance

ok guy some days ago i finally have tried my nes sg with jazz and custom 5 and it sounds awesome. just the tone i needed.
still waiting to try it at the correct volumes but sure it will be great!

Now i've one question about the cover:
my liuthier(1st and i think last time i went there) installed a Gibson pickup on the bridge SD (custom5) he said it was not very fitting good (i saw patially and he was right the cover was forced to fit the pu).so when i took the guitar i seen that still the cover doesn't fit thill the end of the PU poles so there some air that can pass between poles and cover.

can this be a problem? do you think i colud press the gibson cover on it to fit like factory made pu with covers?
:27:

anyway many thanks to everyone for your support!
