The Jazz would be a great pickup in a McCarty.

As would many other Duncans: Antiquitys, Seth Lovers, 59's... :)

There's nothing 'great' about the Jazz but your on the right track.

Lew, just because you sell a lot of Jazz PUs doesn't make it great. :)

Nope...it's a great pickup because it's a great pickup. Doesn't have anything to do with me. Tho I do sell ALOT of them. Wanna BUY one? :saeek: Lew

No :) I really don't need that much treble. If we were in 1983 and nothing else was available maybe.

Out of the Jazz and Jb I like the Jazz neck pup in the McCarty but I sold both of them. Just got back from practicing with my band and with some different gear I am using the C5/59N again and it they are back on my favorite list. It is much better than the Jazz/JB as far as fat tone goes, any way I am happy again for the moment with the 59N/C5.

It is weird how we all perceive things differently. Some will say that a PAF style pickups will give a fatter or wider tone like the C-5. Still others will say that a mid heavy pickups will give a fatter or wider tone. To this day, my favorite after market pickups for the bridge are the C-5 and Rio Grande BBQ. The BBQ being a little thicker than the C-5.

Just for the record: The JAZZ & JB is supposed to be Seymour's favorite pickup combination. Or at least it was for many years...maybe it still is. That should be some indication of whether the JAZZ is a great neck pickup or not. Lew

...and the JB stands for Jazz-Blues.

The Jazz PU was great when every player was complaining about a muddy neck PU. Boost the treble problem solved.
