Either will get you there, but the JB will be more versatile overall.
Most of the Megadeth guys used JB's (Mustaine definitely did).

Lee I don't know, RR used a dist.

mustaine uses JBs, but i get a better megadeth tone outta my DD. that being said, the JB is great and you cant go wrong with either pickup

i think i will get the jb cause i like playing vh stuff too and the dd won sound that good playing vh. and with the jb i could just use a distortion pedal to make it very distorted and make my amp very distorted in the settings. :evil:

Just so you know, I play VH with my Distortions. Can't say it sounds exactly like VH. But it sounds like me playing VH.

i know you can play vh with the dd cause my guitar teacher has one and he plays vh but i just think it sounds better with jb. mark

i think if you play more jake e lee, VH, 80s metal stuff, go for the JB. if you play more RR, megadeth, speed/thrash stuff, so for the DD.

both pickups do both styles very well, each one just has a bit of an edge on the other for the 2 main styles you named. you really cant go wrong with either

Lee, Mustaine, most 80's metal used the JB
Rhodes the distortion.
the JB is more versitile. It has plenty of output. you can always use a pedal if you you need it
