Actually, AFAIK only the RR-5 and some of the earlier SL-4s had a JB @neck. Think ultra-smooth, sings like a banshee in heat, but can rock out with the best of them. Split, it´s the next best thing to having a single coil in the slot.
Depending on your amp (particularly Rectifiers) it may sound too boomy or mushy. But IMO that´s just a question of tweaking amp settings.
When the dust settles: Definitely not for everyone, but if you´re looking for a smooth, high-output neck pickup, look no further[
