JB/Jazz users, can I pick your brain?

Hello,

I have a Carvin DC127M, which is all-mahogany (but bright-sounding) and has neck-thru construction, passive electronics, ebony fingerboard, Sperzel locking tuners, graphite nut, and a tune-o-matic bridge w/ strings-thru-body. It's an excellent guitar, but I'm not satisified with Carvin's stock M22 model pups.

I was considering replacing them with the Duncan JB (bridge) and Jazz (neck) setup and had a few questions...

- How would these humbuckers sound in mahogany (particularly the JB)? Would the mahogany take away any definition or articulation?

- Can the JB handle pretty heavy stuff? I know Mustaine uses the JB, and I enjoy playing Megadeth-style metal, but I'm also into old death metal (Death, Venom, Possessed, etc.)

Thanks! :headbang:

Re: JB/Jazz users, can I pick your brain?

I guess you could go with Custom Custom/Jazz Combo.
the cc will have a lot of crunchy and sweet/velvet tone for soloing
and not soo much bass but for me, it´s enough eheheheh better than the Jb flawless bass.
i had a Jb and tuned a guitar with it in C. dislike its bass. the rest are killer... like mids and highs.

Pm me if you a metal clip DEATH AND THRASH with some black stuff with my charvel fusion deluxe and my metalzone direct in the pc speakers. eheheheheh
i´ll send those clisp to you

Re: JB/Jazz users, can I pick your brain?

I've got the Jazz/JB combo in my wifes Gibson LP Studio. Kicks a$$! Nice crunch, great harmonics, but not muddy at all (at least IMHO).

I personally like the APH-1/JB combo in my Gibson LP Studio (ebony frettboard) a little better though!

yea the jb jazz combo would be awesome in that guitar, and as jalin said it was basically made for mahogany

Re: JB/Jazz users, can I pick your brain?

the JB/Jazz combo were actually made for Swamp Ash! if you try them and find them kinda bright swap the pots for 250k before you swap the pups!
