So these are probably Seymour's most popular pairings, right? Which one do you prefer out of the two and why?

I know there are probably options that people would prefer over either. I, for example, prefer the 490R over the '59 or the Jazz matched with the JB... but I'm interested as to which of the two is more popular.

Curious.

:)

I think out of the two, I prefer the '59, but not by much

Now that I have the Jazz, and I have spent time with it, I realize it's actually pretty good. But I still kinda wish it wasn't as bright. Not that being bright is bad per se. I just think the Jazz is kinda super bright, and the JB isn't as much.

But both are pretty good, which is not something I would've said a couple of years ago. I could live with either.

Was gonna kinda say that. Of my 2 humbucker SGs I swapped the 490r/490t to WLH/59.....and lately Im kinda back to prefering the 490r over the 59. Its a great pickup.
So I vote JB/490r....is that on the ballot?(actually not a JB fan but figure thats a given)

I am absolutely NOT a fan of the Jazz in the neck. I have a JB 59 with a A3 mag swap in my orange Washburn MG 102 and a PG 59 in the MG 132FR and like both combos. I find the Jazz to be just bland and soulless in everything I have used one in. I am running a Jazz with an A2 swap to turn it into an Alnico II pro in the neck of my Purple quilt Carvin DC 127 that I like okay paired with a Perpetual Burn.
My favorite neck pickup with the JB so far has been the Sentient.

All this thread makes me want to convert back my blue tele in a tele-gib again , it happens I have a JB and a APH1n unused around, I'll just swap the magnet on the aph with an A5

Did it. I didn't remember how good this pair sounds with my princeton (stock 250k pots).

Overall I still prefer the sound of a standard APH-1 on neck, but I feel the Jazz is a better companion for the JB; and the JB, with its mid high spike, in my opinion, has something in the soul somewhat close to a normal tele bridge pickup sound
