Ok, Ive isolated the problem and it appears that something is wrong with my bridge pup - JB jr. Everything is allright untill I start to play on the B, and high E strings. Then the tone becomes so trebly and piercing, that your ears hurt.
JBjr's not been set too high - it just slightly overpowers the SSL1's, i tried to roll amp's treble down - doesn't help.. What's wrong with this pup?????!
Thanks in advance :D

Wouldn't setting it higher reduce the treble as it makes the tone more compressed? I guess it can't hurt to try it (unless it's really that ice picky lol).

it is really that ice picky.. and ive also tried setting the pup higher, it was even worse due to the higher output.

Use 250k pots if you don't already have them, otherwise replace it, or learn to turn the tone knob down a tiny bit. If there's no tone on the bridge pickup, then it's not loading it either. So modify the guitar to have a tone knob on the bridge pickup. (or master tone)

+1. That should solve the problem.

I've used the JB JR with SSL-1's for years and have never experienced it being to trebley. You should be using it with 250K pots though.

Moving a pickup closer to the strings will make it fuller but also brighter, BTW.

The closer the poles are to the underside of the string the brighter the pickup will seem.

Don't know what your problem could be, but try moving the JB a little further from the strings. Or try making the polepieces almost flat if they are protruding far above the flatwork or top of the bobbin and then move the whole pickup assembly closer...that'll fatten up the tone and the treble will be masked slightly by the fatter/deeper/thicker overall tone.

I don't know what pot I have, is it 250 or 500K?? Maybe the problem lies here.. Pity that ive just changed strings so I can't check it.. But I think I'll start with this :D
