JB magnet swap

when changing magnets from alnico to ceramic how much difference to the sound & tones does it make ? will fitting a ceramic magnet to a JB make it sound like a DD (SH6) or is it some thing else in the middle ? i guess i am asking is how total is the transormation ?

I would not do that swap. It will make an already high endie borderline shrill PuP even more so IMO. An A8 mag is a better choice, and will make the JB thicker and tighter, w/out a piercing high end.

Or...putting an A5 mag into a Distortion might accomplish what you are looking for.

a5 into a distortion is a JB, and a ceramic into a JB is almost a DD because of the difference in magnet size(DD comes with an extra thick magnet). some people who like the DD for the most part and not really the JB usually like a ceramic JB. an a8 is a good choice, it sounds like a cross between a DD and JB(all the tightness, none of the harshness).

I hear great things about these A8 mags. Want to swap one in a Jazz bridge or Demon. I just don't know how. Please report back with your results.
