Makes it brighter.

I guess the tone pot is bad so I figured just bypass it. That's one less piece of circuitry. I have heard it will make it brighter too. I read if your tone knob is on 10, you're still losing a bit of signal just passing through the knob.

Players may not necessarily want the full signal passing thru. There's reasons why pots have resistance.

Why not just replace the pot? Though I suppose a JB would sound just fine in a volume only setup.

Honestly, I never use the tone on any of my guitars. My thinking is that's one less thing that can go bad. Might as well just yank it out since I never use it.

JB sounds killer on my RGA121 without a tone pot.

May have to try that but all my guitars have either a HH or HSH setup and not sure how no tone control would play with the neck or middle pickups.

I had a JB in the bridge of a Strat a few years ago. No tone pot, 500k volume pot with a push-pull for splitting.

Sounded excellent for it's purpose, actually. It should work.

Honestly, I never use the tone on any of my guitars. My thinking is that's one less thing that can go bad. Might as well just yank it out since I never use it.

Tone pots modify the tone regardless of whether you dial them down or not. They do serve a purpose. As far as 'things going bad', what are you doing to your guitars that that's a concern? Leaving them outdoors?

Hey all,
Just got my schecter back from the tech. Turns out the tone pot was the original tone pot from it when it had active pickups (Duncan Designed actives). It was reading at 25kish. He put a 500k pot in there, sounds great now!!!
